FIT PROS MANAGING THE MENOPAUSE Part 1
In the Fitness Pilates Instructor group, we have been discussing the symptoms of the menopause on health, quality of life, teaching classes and working in the fitness industry, and it is staggering how many Fitpros are struggling and truly suffering.
Weight gain, forgetting choreography, can’t remember the name of the elbow or armpit and experiencing such severe anxiety rendering you unable to teach or stand up in front of classes is just a few of the comments on the thread. Over 140 comments in a few hours. Many heartbreaking stories.
Many Fitpros don’t want to take HRT (or any medication)due to the risk factors we read about, but I strongly urge anyone who is struggling to go and see an NHS GP or a GP in the practice who is educated in the current research on the Menopause.
There is a lot of new information and drugs like HRT are evolving. HRT can be a lifesaver for so many, so please don’t rule it out because you want to tackle this with “natural” remedies.
Lifestyle factors – improving your nutrition, cutting back or cutting out booze, limiting sugar and strength training can dramatically improve symptoms by up to 40%

I reached out to Jane Dowling this week of https://menoandme.com/ who is also a Fitness Professional and has been helping women become empowered and educated on the Menopause. I asked Jane if she would write a blog to help Fitpros manage the Menopause and she is my guest on tomorrows Podcast.
I think many Fitness Professionals are suffering in silence because they think “it’s just me” or the symptoms aren’t THAT bad to warrant help or medication (they are!) or they want to tackle it “naturally” but if we can help and support each other, we are able to pass this on to our to clients.
