As we get ready to enjoy the summer holidays it’s a good time to reevaluate what you exactly want to keep teaching, training and doing within your fitness business.
In days gone by if you wanted to earn a decent weekly wage from Fitness you had to teach at least 15 classes or train 20 odd clients a week. (or both)
But if you really plan the kind of working life you want and dip your fingers into a few more diverse fitness pies you really don’t have to.
Here are some simple ways and ideas to help you move ahead.
1. The first way to earning more is to raise your prices. Ask for a pay rise or charge more for your PT services.
If this is not an option then bundle up new packages and deals so customers commit to you over a longer period.
2. Cut down on unnecessary spending. This sounds so simple but how often do you do it?
Keep an eye on mobile phone tariffs and jump when you see better deals, compare the price of petrol and always fill up in the cheapest places, stop buying magazines and papers and use the TV, radio and internet for news and views,
stop buying coffee at Starbucks/Costa and food at the gyms you work in, take in your own lunches and proteins and water, use filtered water instead of bottled and reuse your old bottles.
3.How do you want to spend your working week?
It’s best to mix your classes if you are a freelancer in different venues.
I enjoy working morning slots at Nottingham Virgin Active. I teach 2 mornings a week between 2 and 3 classes, which range from Step/ HILO/Body Con/Aqua/Seniors and Dance,
but my evenings are all paid up front Kick Start Fat Loss courses. I don’t operate any pay as you go but programmes that have a launch, set amount of weeks then clients progress to monthly Kick Start events and online.
4. Look at your travel costs. All my community classes are within a 3 mile radius of my home cutting down on travelling costs and time spent in the car. I can also keep all my advertising within a small radius.
5. Spend on your education!
Don’t cut costs on your education, make sure you attend workshops, read books, listen to audios,go to other peoples’ classes and even hire a PT to keep you in the best possible shape mentally and physically. Always try to improve your skills and look into new markets and populations.
6.Community classes is where it’s at if you want to make more per hour per class, but you have to put in the marketing time, work your mailing list, give out flyers, posters, do village fetes,
have stalls at wedding fairs, do talks for groups, work Facebook and twitter. If you are a regular reader of the newsletter then you should have a million ideas on self promotion.
8.Exclusive Small Group Training – SGT Is where it is right now.
9.Cardiac Rehab/GP referral. Have you considered working in Cardiac Rehab or GP referral? Many PCTs are looking for qualified Instructors and there are lots of additional opportunities once you have your qualifications.
Find out what’s on offer in your area. Contact your local GP referral team or Cardiac rehab team.
10.Read self help and motivational books. Tony Robbins was on Facebook LIVE last night and he was AMAZING!
So Inspiring. These days you can listen to the worlds top motivators from your phone. it’s amazing 🙂

So You Want To Meditate?
by Jo De Rosa
You’ve heard how it can change your life.
Everyone seems to be doing it these days.
So are YOU ready to start exercising your brain and get your mind muscle strong, or do you think that meditation is not for you?
Or are you in denial or even full of excuses?
As a fitpro you’ve heard all the ridiculous reasons not to exercise under the sun I’m sure. As yoga teachers the frustrating answer we always get as to why a person can’t start coming to our class is,
“I’m not flexible enough”
And as a teacher of meditation I get an equally absurd response when the same question is asked,
“I HAVEN’T GOT TIME TO MEDITATE”
The paradox is palpable. Each statement makes no sense to the participant of either, for that is the whole point!
Maybe you’ve been sitting on the meditation wall for a while. Rachel talks about it all of the time and has now created her own programme with meditation at the end, but you’ve still not created your own practice. Or perhaps you’re kidding yourself that YOU HAVEN’T GOT TIME or it’s not for you?
1. Would you like to feel calmer?
2. Would you like to feel more connected to your true self?
3. Would you like to find out the answers to questions that you have about life?
4. Would you like to be able to deal with stress better?
5. Would you like to get some perspective on your addiction (drink, drugs, eating, sex etc…)
6. Would you like to feel more awake?
7. Would you like to create more time?
These are the benefits that I personally receive through meditation. It’s quite a staggering list right? What’s not to like?
So what is stopping you?
DO YOU STILL NOT HAVE TIME?
Lets take my last point in the list about.
“Would you like to create more time”
Af BIG statement; HOW can you create MORE time?
Easy.
When we meditate we achieve points 1 through to 7
So we feel calmer, more connected, get answers, are less stressed, gain perspective over our problems, feel more awake. THEREFORE because we have created a whole new feeling within us we can prioritise what has to be done over what can be left.
With this new feeling and energy we begin to attract into our lives more balance and less drama. There is an undercurrent of peace permeating throughout life; would you like some of that?
The irony of the situation is almost laughable!
Those that are MOST stressed and have the LEAST time are the ones that need to meditate most! There is an old Zen saying,
“You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day unless you’re too busy. Then you should sit for an hour”
MEDITATION CREATES TIME
Your whole day changes BECAUSE you meditated!
A whole new perspective opens up.
Life gets better, easier and more manageable. You can cope with all that life throws at you. You open up to something bigger than you and begin to FEEL the connection with all. For under our skin we are all the same, and ultimately everyone on the planet wants the same thing: to be happy and healthy. We have so much in common.
So how do you begin and maintain your meditation practice?
Firstly you COMMIT to it.
Ideally you purchase some guided meditations to listen to which makes life easy, and easy is the whole point here.
Then you COMMIT to getting up 10, 15 or 30 minutes earlier and do your meditation FIRST THING. This then means that you are not robbing Peter (sleep) to pay Paul (meditation) for the two are so similar. First thing in the morning when we’ve just woken up our brain waves are slow; ideal for meditation. We can slip into the meditative state easier and still gain the benefit that we would have had we stayed in bed = win win.
My life has changed so much each time I have upped my own practice time. Real perceivable shifts in my inner and outer worlds = the way I feel about life and the way life deals with me.
I’m so passionate about it that I have now all but given up teaching yoga so that I can dedicate my time to meditation. My programmes are now based upon it and my own practice has grown over the years.
And last week I began live streaming my own practice each morning and creating a space for others to come and sit with me in silence. On the quantum level we collapse time and space, meaning that with just the INTENTION of meditating together we are doing just that. I am offering a space for you to fulfil your commitment to meditate each morning. So people are watching the live stream (i’m just sitting there in silence for 60 minutes) whilst listening to a recording of their choice. You check in and out, say hi to the group, and say what your morning commitment is.
You can join us here each morning:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/QuantumSuperpowers/
It’s absolutely beautiful and I’m so overjoyed that I can share like this and help others STEP UP into their greatness. And if 7:15am is too late/early for you each day then watch one of the previous recordings; we’re working quantum here! Past, present and future all mingle into one!
I really hope you can join me each morning, do come in and say hello!
And lets smash this misconception that you don’t have enough time to meditate, because it simply IS NOT TRUE!
You don’t have time NOT to meditate….
I’d love to know about your established meditation practice and how it has already changed your life. Do let me know, or even better come into the group and let us ALL know! And if you would like some more support around this then please do either email me or ask me in the Superpowers group!
Have a calm, connected, stress-free, awakened day. Jo x

And Still I Rise…………….!!
By Andrew Crawford
As Serena Williams began her battle to write history, these are the powerful words that preceded the women’s singles championship at Wimbledon.
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
