    Course Synopsis: Teaching Fitness Pilates to Children and Teens

    Course Overview: This course is designed for Fitness Pilates instructors who are interested in adapting traditional Pilates exercises for children and teenagers. The course emphasises the unique physiological and psychological needs of younger populations, providing strategies to make Pilates both fun and beneficial for growing bodies.

    Course Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will:

    • Understand the developmental stages of children and teenagers and how these impact physical activity.
    • Learn how to modify Fitness Pilates exercises to suit different age groups and abilities.
    • Explore creative teaching techniques to engage young students and maintain their interest.
    • Gain insights into the benefits of Pilates for children, including improved posture, flexibility, concentration, and overall well-being.
    • Learn how to create a safe and supportive environment that encourages participation and fosters a positive relationship with physical activity.

    Course Content:

    1. Introduction to Fitness Pilates for Kids and Teens:
      • Overview of Pilates principles.
      • The benefits of Pilates for children and adolescents.
    2. Child and Adolescent Development:
      • Understanding physical, cognitive, and emotional development stages.
      • How these stages affect exercise and movement.
    3. Adapting Pilates for Different Age Groups:
      • Age-specific Pilates modifications.
      • Designing classes for different age ranges: 5-7, 8-12, 12 – 16 years old.
    4. Creative Teaching Strategies:
      • Incorporating games and storytelling to make Fitness Pilates fun.
      • Techniques for maintaining engagement and managing group dynamics.
    5. Safety and Injury Prevention:
      • Recognising common physical issues in children and teens.
      • How to modify exercises to prevent injuries.
    6. Building a Class Structure:
      • Designing a balanced Pilates class for kids and teens.
      • Warm-up, main exercises, and cool-down strategies.

    Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion, indicating their ability to safely and effectively teach Fitness Pilates to children and teenagers.

    Course Duration: All of the lectures will be available from Friday and Rachel’s Live ZOOM session.

    Prerequisites: Participants have to be Fitness Pilates or Level 3 Pilates Trained.

    Materials Provided:

    • Course videos and lesson plans.
    • Access to video tutorials demonstrating age-appropriate Pilates exercises.
    • Sample class plans and worksheets.
