The Three P’s
by Jo De Rosa
I felt an urge to explain a little further how I got to the decision to stop teaching yoga; and it’s all down to The Three P’s….
Because I regularly go into retreat I gain:
PERSPECTIVE
…and it’s only when we remove ourselves from our ‘normal’ environment that we can achieve this first ‘P’.
You see your life differently, and with that physical ‘outer’ space away from your normality quite often it’s like looking in with new eyes.
There’s no coincidence that I own a retreat centre and facilitate the offering of this physical space to hundreds of people every year!
And as we realise our PERSPECTIVE of experiences in our outer world, we must also look inward: why do we believe certain aspects of ourselves are fixed, when all phenomena is constantly changing.
Can we adapt to this change?
Why do we do, say, and think what we do? It is all down to our:
PERCEPTION
…of where we fit in the world.
Meditation allows us to stop ‘doing’ and just sit with what is. We watch our thoughts, judgments and desires as they continually pass through our mind. In the beginning we get seduced by the juicy thoughts that demand our attention, but slowly we learn to accept and allow the space that sits in between us and our thoughts: because we are NOT our thoughts.
And when we meditate we are creating ‘inner’ space and this connects us to our PERCEPTION of things and gives us an awareness of who we really are.
Then an inner confidence grows. As we connect more and more to our soft spot/source/essence, we realise who we really are and the external façade that we show to the world starts to blend more and more: external experience becoming in tune with internal truth.
This is then when we must honour our deep authentic voice by living our whole lives congruently and:
PRIORITISING
…our truth in our relationships, work, family life etc…
This then becomes urgent: how can we feel one way and speak/act in an opposing manner?
As I find more work/life balance I realise that I must PRIORITISE my time like never before. What is important to me? What MUST I do and what can fall away? Time is so precious; for play; for work; for practice; for family. There is SO MUCH to do everyday!
My 2015 meditation practice has given me so much clarity; I’ve never sat for so long on my cushion as I have over the last 12 months, and it has transformed me.
Meditation changes your brain, and with so many hours on my cushion I couldn’t stay the same. And if you start a meditation practice TODAY then you begin this transformation too….
With this heightened PERSPECTIVE has come a new PERCEPTION which has led me to new PRIORITIES. And teaching a 90 minute yoga class just isn’t the best use of my time any longer. Anyone who has attended my classes will tell you that I spend just as much time talking life philosophy as I do muscles, tendons and alignment, and to be completely honest with you it’s the philosophy that I WANT to talk to you about!
It feeds me and in turn feeds you, and this is why I must step back from the traditional yoga class to focus my time and energy on where I am headed and where my heart is.
It’s funny the first email I got after my last blog (Bye Bye Old Life) was from a past Inner Guidance guest who is about to become a yoga teacher. And in that instant I saw that by me stepping away, space was instantly created for someone else to take that platform.
Beautiful.
At Inner Guidance I am handing my classes over to other yoga teachers and I still love to practice it myself; in my personal time though, not to teach it.
And as soon as I have made this decision a new class format is forming in my mind!! Watch this space!!
The Old Three P’s:
15 years ago when I lived in Thailand a friend used to give me regular tarot card readings, and it was she that first used the phrase ‘The Three P’s’.
But the three P’s that she was referring to were not the ones I have talked about here; life was very different for me back then with my life dogged by my old Three P’s:
Patience
Perseverance
Potential
And as I write these 3 words they take me back to that time, and I feel so sad for the old Jo who was struggling so much. I knew I wanted to be sober, in love, happy, abundant and healthy but I didn’t know how to gift myself these qualities. And the tarot sessions with Sharon were so frustrating because I wanted to shout at her,
“They are the wrong cards! It’s not fair! I don’t want all this struggle!”
But deep down I absolutely knew that they were correct, that it was not yet my time, I had so much more to work out and inner work to complete (plus I had to stop taking so many drugs!).
So much has changed, I have evolved, and as my sweet little business that I set up in Thailand is set to celebrate it’s 15th birthday in a few months, I really KNOW that now is my time; every single cell in my body is ready; all resistance gone; fears evaporated; doubt non-existent; and the circle is complete.
Guess which card I keep pulling out of the deck that I use daily??…..
WHOLENESS
And there is no word that better describes how I feel.
I have arrived
I am enough
NOthing is missing (I typed that out wrong, went to change it, and decided it looked cool misspelt!)
WHOLENESS
And it is this energy of wholeness that I share with you now.
It is this wholeness that gives me the confidence to walk away from all that I’ve been the last 15 years.
Wholeness lives in my head, my heart, my soul.
And I invite you to discover how you too can get whole, clear, confident, healthy and happier than you’ve ever been before.
I am going into retreat tomorrow.
Ten days to write my book on HOW I got whole.
I’m writing it for YOU.
….so that we can all be free xx
Let me know what you think, but I’ll be responding to emails on my return week commencing 5th October. Have a great 10 days everyone, and see you on the other side!!
And how cool would it be to give YOUrself the gift of a reTREAT? Why not check out the upcoming retreats at Inner Guidance below, and maybe just maybe see you very very soon xx

2 Words………………Plastic Bags…!!
By Andrew Crawford
Has the UK gone mad?
Plastic bags for goodness sakes…!!
People are stealing baskets, security bully boys are ‘arresting’ shoppers who avoid paying the charge.
Only larger retailers need to start charging 5p per bag and the Government has defined this as companies which employ more than 250 full-time employees.
So the independent shops and convenience stores can continue providing bags for free.
But where there’s a will, there’s a way around paying for a plastic bag. There are exceptions to the rule including if you’re buying a goldfish
You can be given a plastic bag at the till if you’re purchasing uncooked fish, meat or poultry products, unwrapped blades and even ‘live aquatic creatures in water’ (goldfish).
Takeaways, unwrapped food, loose seeds , flowers and unwrapped blades are included in the list too.
Plastic bags for loose fruit and vegetables are exempt from this new charge in England. So currently, there’s nothing to stop you buying loose vegetables for you low calorie diets, being rewarded with your free plastic bag and simply ramming it full of the rest of your shopping.
Alternatively, shopping online could be the way around this issue. Bags used to deliver goods bought online aren’t affected by the law – yet.
Plastic bags offered in airport and train station shops are also exempt. The duty free airport bags are usually sturdy in any case.
And the government aren’t going to treat plastic bag fare-dodgers kindly. Any retailer who fails to detect shoppers NOT paying for their plastic bags face fines up to £5,000 if they are caught.
Some campaigners are angry because paper bags – which also cause a headache from a littering perspective – are not included in the Government’s policy.
So What Happens To This 5p?
Retailers do not have to pass the proceeds on to the Government, as it is not actually a tax.
However, it is expected that the estimated £730m generated will go to ‘good causes’….. except yours..!!
What’s The Point?
I don’t see the point in making this a law when they the Government doesn’t collect this 5 pence. It don’t make sense because it does not do anything to change habits.
The other point is to save the environment. I’m sure they’ll get to the poisonous toxins, oil spills, chimney smoke, chemical waste from manufacturing, agricultural fertilizers and car fumes very soon.
Also the scheme is expected to save £60m in clean-up costs making those clean up companies redundant…. meaning some would need need to ‘sign on’ and claim unemployment benefit…!!
Just a thought..!!
Hey…….and my man Corbyn is too busy to meet Liz.
He was accused of snubbing the Queen after it emerged he has turned down an invitation to a ceremony to join the Privy Council.
The meeting would have involved him kneeling in front of the monarch and kissing her hand while swearing an oath of allegiance.
It was a diary clash, somebody should have checked with him first to see if he was available. I’m sure you know what it’s like to be ‘double book’..!!
So Andrew..
What has plastic bags and Corbyn snubbing Liz got to do with Accountancy & Tax?
Well firstly plastic not only makes bags, plastic also comes in a harder form…easy..namely card. Corbyn owes a debt to society and his Peers.
Today is Credit Card Debt.
Credit Cards Do’s and Don’ts
There is a lot of truth in the advice that credit cards are not a substitute for not having money. Everytime you use a credit card this should be the theme
replaying in your mind. And you would do good to remember the following too.
Plastic Do’s.
Always plan for the purchases that you need and those that you want. You need the essentials, and you want everything else. The ability of making a distinction might help you plan wisely.
If caught up in financial difficulties, it’s always good to talk to the issuer who might re-schedule your payments. If you simply default, that only helps to
build up an unfavorable credit history and you might find yourself being denied credit next time.
Unless it is an emergency, staying within your credit limits will help you a great deal. If you must spend over the limit, ensure you are within the manageable levels, say within 30 percent. Christmas is coming……opps…did I just say that??
Plastic Don’ts
Do not use your credit card to make house hold purchases. It’s expensive in the long run.
One of the best pieces of advice I got from IVA Help and Co. is: Do not just pay the minimal amount. You will end up paying exorbitant interest. The quicker you clear the debt the better.
Do not use the credit card to purchase things you can’t afford.
Eliminating Plastic Debt
Overcoming Credit Card Debt
Any kind of debt such as credit card debt needs to be quickly addressed if one wishes to establish a healthier financial situation. You can begin with a basic technique such as budget planning or other saving methods, but the truth is it is more difficult than it seems.
This is even more true with making financial or business transactions using your credit card since it basically offers you lots of convenience to purchase items you normally would be unable to afford if you had to rely on actual cash to make the purchase. Improving your credit card debt is of essential when you are trying to improving your credit rating since it also affects your overall financial stability.
Below are suggested steps in which you can help achieve a more stable personal finance system and eventually become debt free.
Stop Spending
When you already have thousands in debt, stop causing more financial troubles by adding up to your existing debts. Refrain from using your credit card to make any more purchases, especially major ones.
With access to credit card, it is relatively convenient for you to spend today without realizing the financial burdens that you will have to face in the coming days.
Easily said than done eh?
Create a Budget Plan
This applies not just for people who are suffering from credit card debt but for anyone who wishes to establish a healthy financial flow. However, with the increased access to credit cards, budgeting seems to have been easily neglected by most that often results in you spending more than you actually make.
But it is not too late to get started on a budget plan yet. Doing so will help you identify areas of your spending habits that lead to wasteful spending and can be eliminated from your budget plan.
Creating a budget plan will also enable you to appropriate the more important expenses and make them a priority in your list. This is an important method in financial planning that people often fail to undertake with using credit card.
You can find a Family Budget planning spreadsheet here….
http://www.fitnessindustryaccountants.com/ard/documents.asp?AID=1987&SID=11&FID=37617
Use Cash Instead of Credit Card
This is a simple step but for people who have relied so much on credit card, you might find it difficult. Besides, I have noticed cash is becoming a little scarce…have you?
The trick here is that credit card companies provide you with noncash substitutes that you will use for spending instead of actual cash, because it makes it easier to let go and spend them. There is none of the emotional attachment you associate with spending actual money.
Since using credit cards to make your purchases feel like you are not spending at all, then you expose yourself to bigger credit card debt.
Improve Your Credit Card Rate
Another way that you can help eliminate your credit card debt is by improving your credit card rate. This can impact your monthly cash flow if you have a large personal debt by reducing the interest rate.
However, the ability to get lower credit card rate is dependent on your own credit rating. Hence, it makes it a worthy investment to take good care of your credit status as it can have its own set of advantages and disadvantages in the future.
Plastic is not only bad for the environment but also to you.
Finally
Whether you are into rugby or not, England have been relieved of the pressure of going any further in this year’s series.I was having a good banter with my Australian brothers & sisters last weekend.
There were many people this week with ‘Plastic Smiles’.
