  • Instructor Newsletter 20th February 2013

Over the last 20 odd years I have toured the UK’s leisure centers and health clubs presenting workshops, training & educating pretty nonstop until I hit travel burn out last year. I needed to take a break from the M1, M6, M5 and especially the M25 & regain some kind of social life that didn’t involve me loading up my car with DVDs, driving for 3 hours, presenting a workshop for 5 hours then enjoying a dubious meal at Watford Gap services on the way back before falling into bed & repeating it all again the next day. But, I SO miss presenting to Instructors _Y8T0141and seeing all of my C2GO friends. Therefore, I’m organising some uber cool one off events for 2014 that I hope you can come along to and enjoy, FOR YOU!

The first one is the Make It Happen Seminar. This will be a really no holds barred day with so much content, for personal and business ideas and already it’s almost sold out.

Kick Start Fat Loss Lifestyle Day – Saturday 8th June

PUT Saturday 8th June into your diary as I will be holding the very first Kick Start Fat Loss ™ Lifestyle Day. This will be the very first and a totally unique lifestyle event.  I’m so happy to be creating an event that I would LOVE to attend.

I spent a a wonderful 90 minutes on Tuesday morning doing Rachel Holmes step & H.I.I.T classes at VA Notts. Everyone reading this knows that I taught rachel everything she knows about teaching Group X but sometimes it is not until you step into the clients shoes that you realise just how great and different these 2 classes are and how when you put them together, they create the very best and wholesome combination.

The step class started at break neck speed, bang straight into the choreography. I have not done step for months so this hit me like a slap in the face and I really had to focus to get into the game. Due to the fact that I know Rachel and I know step, I very quickly ”stepped” up to speed and found myself desperate to get whatever was next. I went wrong several times but this wrong was just the natural first steps before getting it right, it was the challenge and the journey. No frustration, no anger, no negative just a quick wrong foot in order to keep up. By the time we got to the end I was foot perfect and desperate to ”take it from the top” once more. This is what I love, love, love about Group fitness and it is perhaps what is lost in the prescribed/template classes. Everyone in that room went for the style and for Rachel. Pure instructor led, skill based happiness.

Mixing this with H.I.I.T the ‘class de jour’, that packs a punch on the heart and the body but not on the brain was a perfect combo. I was alert and on fire after step which meant that I put so much more into my intervals.

Let not anyone tell us ever again that there is a wrong way to exercise.
Let us this year allow ever instructor to teach what and where they want to allowing supply and demand to determine whether it is wrong or right.

    Can we get Passionate? Rachel

Let’s talk about passion for a few minutes, shall we?
I’m passionate about seeing people move forward and accomplishing their goals.
I’m passionate about helping Fitpros earn the money they should through Fitness Business ideas. Providing them with the tools (class content, choreography business ideas) so they in turn can teach and lead their clients. I’m Passionate about inspiring Fitness Instructors to become amazing role models both physically and mentally. Working with FitPros is my absolute passion.

    What’s your passion?
What makes you jump up at 5am in morning to bash out an idea you have had?
It’s important to know what your passion is because you’ll never make the money you really want or have the lifestyle you desire or the clients you crave in something you can’t believe in. For example, if you don’t like Bootcamps or Pilates, or dare I say it Zumba, you shouldn’t build your fitness business involving any of those topics. Even if those models are super fashionable and potentially could make you a lot of revenue.
Your passion, what you’ve been wanting to do forever will actually lead you to not only your ideal client and niche, but it will also lead you to your destiny in many unique ways.
If you have got a burning desire to create your own Fitness Brand, Class, Workout or Programme, or have a burning passion to empower people to lose weight, or enjoy a healthier lifestyle, then don’t spend any more time procrastinating and get a plan together and do it. What on earth is stopping you?

My newsletters and daily positivity emails are all about helping build your confidence, arming you with information which you can use to help your clients, building your community classes, helping you  run your business so you can schedule in holidays and taking time out to enjoy life and, as always, I hope you find it inspiring, uplifting and motivating.
The good thing is we are in a fantastic industry that is still in its infancy. Therefore, identify your passion within fitness and run with it and create your dreams and goals

How do you know what your Fitness Health and Wellness Passion is?
    Here’s my little test?
    So are you ready?
Here are the questions. Please get out your pen

#1- What do you always find yourself daydreaming about in relation to your fitness career or business?
#2- Where do you really want to be in 6 months’ time – (anything goes here – be bold and wild here) where do you want to be and to have achieved?
#3- What makes you excited, motivated, encourages you and inspires you within the fitness industry?
Once you really work out what your Fitness Passion is you can then plan out a pathway to get there.
The one person you need to work on the most is yourself, so you are ABLE to speak to your ideal client. To find them, ‘read their mind’ and speak their language, you’ll need to work more on yourself than anyone else.
Your ideal client or market needs you to find your passion! Fire is what people follow and passion is what will help you achieve the fitness business and the life of your dreams.
I’d really love you to tweet me with what you are Passionate about in Fitness – Who do you want to help and serve and create exciting programs for?
And if you feel daring, share with me some of your answers from above as well!
I am passionate about helping you succeed in your Fitness Business! Let’s do this together!

Are you still Time Poor by Rachel x

The most common comment I get on email and face to face with Instructors is “I never have enough time”. This is something I have been looking at and studying over the last few months. There are some fantastic time management books and audios where you can learn the best methods to getting more done in less time, so over the coming weeks I will look at strategies to ensure YOU are making the most of your time.
95% of the things you do every day only 5 % will move your business forward.
Out of everything you do every day only 5% of your tasks will go to moving your business forward. Outsource everything that other people can do and focus on driving your business forward.

Write down a list of you goals – where do you want to be in 6 months’ time or a year’s time?

If you only move your business forward 5% a day it’s going to take forever to get there.
Write a list of everything you do every day in any one given week. Then go through the list and see what you can outsource.
For Example…… A few years ago I was teaching 32 classes a week. Personal Training, working out myself, running my websites, creating workshops and preparing presentations, getting up at 5am to answer emails, being permanently shattered and not moving my business forward.
I could see no way out of this cycle and it was also equal to = No social life, never seeing my friends, trying to get my mum to work for me every day for free, having no partner, getting up at 5am to answer emails and being permanently shattered……..sound familiar?
I desperately needed chunks of time to be able to sit down and get my teeth into loads of projects and ideas I had swimming around in my head.
Make a list of everything you do in a typical day
    1.Clean the house
    2.Do the Food shopping
    3.Do the Ironing
    4.Take the kids to school
    5.Create choreography workouts
6.Write emails, articles, do social media etc
    7.Teach 3 classes

Now out of this list, look at what you can outsource or pay someone else to do
    1. Get a cleaner
    2. Order shopping online
    3. Get an ironer
    4. Get a friend to take kids or take it in turns with another parent.
    5. Create choreography – you still need to do that yourself!
    6. Save all emails you write and set up FAQs on the website or get an assistant
    7. Create an online programme and STOP procrastinating on this one
Of course, these things will take time to get sorted and arranged, but think of the time you will have free and be able to move your business forward into the next level of your master plan.

    What is your Master plan?

Where do you want to be this time next week? Next month? or Next year?
Are you looking to be a presenter, employ others to teach your Bootcamps or classes or running an online business…..whatever your goals, hopes and dreams are, make sure you take daily steps to edging closer to your goals.

    The More I Think I Know…The More I Know I Don’t Know…!!

    By Andrew Crawford

What a week this has been…!!

I had far too much time on my hands this last week which found me locked into YouTube and some fascinating discoveries that expanded my knowledge ……

    Before I go into that…..

I must be the last person to know that there has been floods around the UK…My prayers go out to you if you have been affected.

Apparently there is ‘unlimited funds’ to deal with it. Make sure you know how to access it and that there are no restrictions on the amount you can spend…….oh…..and check your insurances to ensure you are covered for these ‘natural disasters’….check the smallprint..!!

Now…What I thought I knew and what has been ‘told’ was that man landed on the Moon. It has been some time but now I honestly believe that we didn’t. Again….this is from years of research and all the evidence you can clearly find on YouTube. There are so many clips.

Pay particular attention to a lady who was watching it in Australia who saw a coke bottle go across the screen…..!!!

My thoughts were on the Astronauts. Of the 3…only 2 ‘Stepped Out’ onto the moon. The 3rd one “Stayed in the spaceship” whilst the other 2 were having a good old jolly taking photos, having a small step for mankind, digging in the moving flag……….What????? All that way and you didn’t poke your toe on the moon’s surface???

So………….they go all the way to the moon and only take a few photos. My friend Edna went out on the boozer last week and took 100 photos…!!

It’s like going to Disneyland Florida and staying in the car..!!

    What next Andrew??

    Christopher Columbus ‘discovering America’…!!!

One question…….How can you discover something that is already there?

On that basis, I’m gonna go out and ‘discover’ the Queen’s Crown Jewels…!!

I could go on…..Australia and original inhabitants the Aborigines….New Zealand and original inhabitants the Maoris….Tasmnia….!!!!

    Anything else??

Yes….7 Presidents before President Obama were of black origin.

John Hanson (a Moor) was the 1st President of the United States
Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd President of the United States
Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States
Warren Harding was the 28th President of the United States
Calvin Coolidge was the 29th President of the United States
Dwight E. Eisenhower was the 33rd President of the United States

Look it up yourself………I couldn’t make this stuff up…!!

We had no idea Andrew…….is there any more to whet our appetites??

Indeed………hold onto your seats……..this is going to be a rocky ride…

Ludwig van Beethoven, long considered Europe’s greatest classical music composer.  Said directly, Beethoven was a black man. Specifically, his mother was a Moor, that group of Muslim Northern Africans who conquered parts of Europe–making Spain their capital–for some 800 years.

Here are some quotes I found…………..

” Frederick Hertz, German anthropologist, used these terms to describe him: “Negroid traits, dark skin, flat, thick nose.”

Emil Ludwig, in his book “Beethoven,” says: “His face reveals no trace of the German. He was so dark that people dubbed him Spagnol [dark-skinned].”

Fanny Giannatasio del Rio, in her book “An Unrequited Love: An Episode in the Life of Beethoven,” wrote “His somewhat flat broad nose and rather wide mouth, his small piercing eyes and swarthy [dark] complexion, pockmarked into the bargain, gave him a strong resemblance to a mulatto.”

You’re gonna need some theraphy after that lot…..
So Andrew…..What has going to the moon, Christopher Columbus and the great Beethoven got to do with Accountancy & Tax??

Well….it’s about going somewhere and doing something you haven’t done before and conducting your personal finance affairs when faced with the decision to either do an IVA as opposed to Bankruptcy

Just like the moon…..these are dark places to go….

I ‘discovered’ some good material on this subject all around the ner so the following for the first time is not my original work but from various sources pulled together.

    http://www.ivaadvisorycentre.co.uk/iva-bankruptcy/

Both Bankruptcy and Voluntary Arrangements can be powerful tools to legally write off debt you can’t afford and protect you from your creditors using insolvency legislation, but which option is best will depend on your own personal circumstances.
Bankruptcy could write off up to 100% of your unsecured debts including:
    Council Tax Arrears
    HRMC Debts
    Credit Cards
    Overdrafts
    Unsecured Loans
    Payday Loans
    Mortgage Shortfalls
    Hire Purchase Shortfalls
An IVA could also deal with all the above types of debt, so how do you know which option is right for you?

The following came from Freeman Jones..
    http://www.freemanjones.co.uk/iva/iva-bankruptcy/

    IVA pros & cons
A look at the pros & cons of entering an IVA.
    The pros
Writes off unaffordable unsecured debt on successful completion
Fixed repayment plan – you’ll know how much you’re paying each month, and for how long (normally five years)
Protects against action from unsecured lenders
    Can help homeowners avoid repossession

    The cons
Will affect your credit rating for six years from the date the IVA is registered.
Will normally require homeowners to release equity in the final year of the arrangement. This can be difficult / expensive, due to the IVA’s impact on their credit rating.
Lasts longer than bankruptcy normally does. Typically 5 years, but can be 6 if equity can’t be released.
Will leave you with very little money for non-essentials.
Cannot go ahead without approval from lenders who account for 75% of the debt in question.
Will appear in the publicly available Individual Insolvency Register.
Only available to people who live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland – Scottish residents may qualify for a Trust Deed.

    Bankruptcy pros & cons
A look at the pros & cons of entering bankruptcy.
    The pros
Once your bankruptcy comes to a successful conclusion, any outstanding unsecured debt will be written off
You’ll be protected against any action by your lenders
You could be discharged after a year
It could give you a chance to ‘start over’

    The cons
You could lose your assets, including your home
Your bankruptcy will be advertised in newspapers and will appear in the publicly available Individual Insolvency Register
Your bankruptcy will stay on your credit file for six years
You may have to make contributions for up to three years (15 years in extreme cases, if you’re subject to a Bankruptcy Restriction Order)
Can stop you from doing certain jobs.

    Finally

    How was your Valentines Day…..??

Can you remember years ago….  On 14th February you would run downstairs when the postman came to see those red envelopes hit the doormat??….4,..5..6…or were you the one that sent 4 or 5 to different people?? Lol

Why show your love for only one day??? I think Valentines is for Everyday…..

This is something I think I know …..!!
