Promoting Your Fitness Pilates Classes And Programmes 2018/2019
Good Morning
We are living through enormous change with class and programme promotion, PR and advertising. What worked even a year ago is not working now and requires a weekly consistent strategy to keep your classes constantly busy.
What is your story?
Why did you start teaching and why FP in particular?
What motivated you to start this business and what do you stand for/your ethos?
Why do you love Fitness Pilates?
It’s important to be clear to your customers who you are by telling your story. In the written word, video, blog, audio or use Facebook and Instagram Stories to tell the world your origin story and why you do what you do.
Customers and prospective customers will resonate with your story and you will find the “right” people will start coming to your classes if you are authentic and professional and deliver a consistent message.
Pricing – It is extremely difficult to make a living from teaching classes if you charge only £4.50/£5 a class. Taking into consideration your overheads, prep time, time on social media, Facebook ads, time spent on Facebook groups, music, travel, petrol, insurance
and education don’t price yourself too low.
*It takes exactly the same effort to market if you charge £4.50, £7.50, £10 or £15/£20*
Don’t worry about the competition focus on the quality and value of your service. Less people paying a higher price can be a lot easier to manage and cause you less stress.
**TIP** We run a people business which can be tiring and very demanding. Charging low prices attracts people who shop around on price and ‘class jump” whenever something new pops up locally. This is STRESSFUL. Charge more and attract committed customers who stay with you for the long haul.
**Do you need to restructure your pricing for 2019 – I think January is NOT the best time to put your prices up. if you are going up then go up now and or after October half term.
Website – Is your website easy to navigate on mobile and customers can sign up easily for your courses and events?
Blogging – Are you blogging weekly and promoting your Blog on social?
Weekly Newsletter – Adding value, expertise
and community to your service by growing your email list and mailing out weekly.
Members Facebook Group – A must for building community and communicating with your members and customers and adding value.
EVENTS and Speaking at Local events – Organise your own masterclasses, workshops, speak at local groups, get yourself out and about networking and meeting people.
Creating an Online Arm To Your Business – Critical in 2019 (IMO) Filming your workouts, tips, building online challenges adds value and an additional income stream.
Facebook is pay to play on your business page if you want your messages to be seen by your fans/friends. For organic reach, the only way to be seen at this moment in time is to do regular Facebook Lives, Create Events pages for all of your classes, Use Facebook stories. YOU can still get traction on your personal page but you do risk your account being shut down if you are dong too much promoting on your personal profile.
ARE YOU A FITNESS PILATES PIONEER?
I’m looking for the OG”s of Fitness Pilates who trained with me when I very first started it.
Did you do one of those early courses with me?
Are you an OG Fitness Pilates Teacher?
I created FP in 2002 as a fitness/group exercise version of traditional Pilates delivered in a contemporary style for qualified Fitness Professionals
It began as a workshop called Equilibrium that @Jaynenicholls and I created which fused Pilates with Stretch and Yoga and Fitness and transformed into Fitness Pilates in 2001/2002.
Jayne created Freestyle Fitness Yoga at the same time and we both made a pledge to work together and side by side in growing and evolving our individual brands. Never competing. always supporting each other and navigating our way through the evolution of the programmes.
I began running workshops and training course around the UK, from 2002/3.
It has been a long old road!
Kelly did the training with me in Nottingham in 2004 (she worked for Karl Frew at the time) and when I was looking for a an amazing tutor Karl Suggested Kelly. Kelly joined me in 2008 and we both have had a strong and successful partnership ever since.
The training updates annually and incorporates new exercise and movement science but has its roots firmly in traditional Pilates and Controlology.
Did you qualify with me in those early days?
Im trying to track down some of the early FP pioneers.
Let me know. If you have your original certificate would you take a pic and post it in the Fitness Pilates Instructor Facebook Group – anyone with an Equilibrium certificate or early FP cert?
I hope you enjoyed that trip down memory lane!
Happy Sunday
Love Rachel xx
