Carmell Demello, is a Group Fitness Co-ordinator at UL Sport, University of Limerick.
Recently she has been involved with a ground breaking programme involving Second Year Medical Students, (future GPs and medical professionals).
The MedWell Programme came from a vision by Professors and Researcher of Medicine, whereby students would take part in a different Group Fitness Programme Class each week following a short talk by a Doctor/Professor Of medicine.
There are so many benefits to the programme, but in its simplest form, the aim was to equip each of these future doctors, will have had real life experience of the workouts that they just be prescribing to future patients. Carmell decided to launch the Activation Band Workout, as part of a Super Workout, alongside Gun-Ex Battle Ropes, TRX and Kettle bells…. Result.
The activation bands were a great tool to use for running drills, along the spacious courts and both males and females “enjoyed” the challenge.
In summary the Activation Bands made their debut, on this very successful Exercise As Medicine Programme….. The future is bright!!
